Public Records Request
The Township of Shaler follows the procedures set by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under the Right to Know Law established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Act 3 of 2008.
Requests for public records must be submitted on the uniform form adopted by the Commonwealth Office of Open Records, and may be mailed, e-mailed, faxed or hand delivered.
* When completing the form, identification or description of the requested record must be in sufficient detail to enable the Township to ascertain which records are being requested.
Timeline:
- Response to requests: An agency has five business days from the date its open records officer receives the request to issue an initial response.
- Final response: If agency says it needs more time, it may take up to an additional 30 calendar days to provide the records or issue a final response.
- Appeals: A denial of records may be appealed within 15 business days of the mailing date of the denial or partial denial.
