[ARCHIVED] Shaler Police Dept. No Shave November!

No Shave November

Shaler Police are proud to announce the second annual participation in NO SHAVE NOVEMBER! Your typically clean shaven officers will once again get scruffy to help raise awareness and raise funds for cancer research and treatment.

This year we have elected to donate all funds received to the Children’s Hospital-Pediatric Supportive Care Unit. The Supportive Care Team at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh offers palliative care to children with life limiting or life threatening illness. They are a multidisciplinary team whose mission is to improve the quality of life of these children, and their family, through a comprehensive support services that focus on physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues. By improving quality of life through relief of suffering and the promotion of hope and dignity, families are empowered to make decisions regarding the optimal care for their child. Some of the services that the Supportive Care team provides includes pain and symptom management, medical decision making support, care coordination, end of life care, and bereavement support for both parents and siblings.

All participating officers have pledged a donation and we are asking for your help as well. We would be honored if you would submit a donation of your own using the form below. Donation amounts are in increments of $5.00 (all donations are tax deductible). To increase your donation amount, change the quantity at checkout to reach your desired donation amount. At the end of November, we will take 100% of all funds raised and donate them to a local medical center specializing in cancer research and treatment. We will update periodically with pictures of our bearded badge wearers, and maybe vote on the best beard!
