To The Wall That Heals Volunteers,
On behalf of Shaler Township, we thank the many volunteers that staffed The Wall That Heals over Memorial Day Weekend. There were over 300 volunteers needed to make the site visit a success and Shaler Township and the surrounding communities rallied to the call. It was a true honor to host The Wall That Heals. Not only was it a tribute to the 58,281 names on The Wall itself, but it was also a way to welcome home the many Vietnam Veterans that served and were never honored when they came home in the fashion that they deserved.
There were over 12,000 visitors to Anderson Field from May 22 - May 26. If visitors needed help locating the name of a friend or loved one, or just had general questions, the volunteers provided the necessary information, along with the compassion to honor the names on The Wall That Heals.
It was truly an honor to host this moving tribute over Memorial Day Weekend.
The many hours of planning finally came to fruition and the result was a perfect execution. Thank you so very much for giving of your time to make this a success.
