Accessory Zoning Permits

An Accessory Zoning Permit is required for construction and building projects that do not fall under the requirements for a Building Permit. 

Accessory Zoning Permits are required for the following:

• Sheds not to exceed 144 sq. ft. in floor area or 10 ft. in height  *
• Carports
• Detached private garages under 1,000 sq. ft.
• Manufactured homes
• Grade and fill for residential and commercial projects
• All other detached accessory structures 

Please complete an Accessory Zoning Permit Application and submit all of the following items with your application to the Building & Zoning Department, 300 Wetzel Road, Glenshaw, PA 15116.

1. Copy of your property survey to ensure the proposed construction is not encroaching on property boundaries, public rights-of-way or underground utility lines.
2. Payment for permit can be made by check, credit card, or cash.  (Cost is determined on the Accessory Zoning Permit Application).  Please call the office with questions at 412-486-9700 x222 or x216.

*  Sheds:  Sheds are not to exceed 144 sq. ft. in floor area or 10 ft. in height and must be at least 3 feet off your side and rear property lines provided it is not constructed on a corner or through lot.  Descriptions of a corner or through lot can be found in Chapter 225.

ACCESSORY ZONING SIGN PERMIT:

An Accessory Zoning Permit Signage Application is required for any sign. A separate permit is required for the erection of each individual sign. A permit is not required for small yard signs and for sale / for rent signs.
