2017 Fall Leaf & Yard Waste Collection
No need to schedule

During Leaf Collection for October 8 through December 2 there is no need to schedule as the entire community will be serviced for Leaf and Yard Waste Collection on the dates below: Please use Biodegradable Paper bags only. Plastic bags (biodegradable and others) are no longer to be used for leaf and yard waste collection.

Yard waste includes: leaves, garden residue, shrubbery with no dirt attached, limbs, twigs, brush and tree trimmings, and similar items but does not include grass clippings or mulch.

Yard waste must be placed in a bio-degradable paper bag.  Tree trimmings not to exceed 3 inches in diameter, brush, limbs, twigs and shrubbery must be bundled in lengths not to exceed 4 feet.

Fall Festival

Saturday, October 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM
Kiwanis Park, 1 Meyer Road, Glenshaw

Shaler Township will hold its first Fall Festival in Kiwanis Park on Saturday, October 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.  Children's costume parade will be held at 2:00 PM, costumes optional.  Activities will include crafts, games, straw obstacle course and races. Bring a pumpkin or pick a small one from our pumpkins patch to decorate.   This is a free event, but for planning purposes we are requesting that you register.  

Fall Festival Registration 

Shaler Township recognizes the special needs community and will be working to allow these individuals to better participate. Accommodations and adaptations including a sensory area will be available at the Fall Festival for use to provide an enjoyable community experience for all families.

Drug Take Back Day

Saturday, October 28 from 10:00  AM to 2:00 PM
Shaler North Hills Library

The Shaler Township Police Department, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration will be assisting in our Drug Take-Back.  This will remove dangerous and unnecessary threats from the medicine cabinets and permits the proper disposal of these items. 

What type of medications can you submit at collection sites?
Any over the counter, controlled substance or prescription required drugs can be submitted.  Tablets, capsules, ointments, creams and liquids will be accepted in its packaging.  No need to take medicines out of the original package or container.  The public can submit it as is, no need to separate pills or medication in any form.

What items will not be accepted at the collection sites?
Sharpies and syringes will not be accepted due to safety reasons.
